Traffic disruption for three weeks

The Sylviusweg – Wassenaarseweg roundabout will be rebuilt from 11 October onwards.

The time has come to connect the new Sylviusweg to the roundabout at the Wassenaarseweg. This requires closure of the roundabout at the entrance to the Sylviusweg. Work will commence from 11 October (after Leids Ontzet) and is expected to last three weeks.

Traffic situation

  • No access is possible to Sylviusweg from Wassenaarseweg.
  • Destination traffic Sylviusweg will follow a diversion. This will be indicated by yellow signs.
  • The access to Galileiweg also falls within the work area and is closed. Businesses and organisations in this rear area, can be reached via the J.H. Oortweg > Tinbergenweg > Goliuspad. The driving direction on Goliuspad has been temporarily changed to make this possible. Destination traffic will follow the yellow signs indicating the diversion route.
  • Through traffic on the Wassenaarseweg will remain possible. In the week of 25 to 31, half of the roundabout will be closed. Traffic controllers will guide the traffic around the work.

Construction of cycle path along Sylviusweg and Trambaan (Phase 4)

Local traffic in the area can meanwhile use the new lane on Sylviusweg. A temporary connection has been made to Zernikendreef to enable this. This means there will be space to construct the bike path at the location of the ‘old lane’. The bike path along Sylviusweg and Trambaan is expected to be ready at the end of December.
